THIS WEEK'S SCOUT REPORT

V'S SCOUT REPORT
FROM THE FIELD
V has been covering ground this week — jazz, dog-friendly markets, and a fair that closes Sunday for good. Here's what's worth leaving the house for.

V's Feature Pick
🎶 MAYOR'S JAZZ IN THE PARK
When: Saturday, March 7, 12–6 PM |
Where: Cypress Grove Park, 290 Holden Ave, Orlando |
Cost: FREE
Six hours of live jazz anchored by a serious lineup — Jones High School Community Band, Naomi Joy Music, The Yo Cats, Divas of Jazz, and headliner Dayve Stewart, with Yvonne Loggins-Coleman of WUCF 89.9 FM on the mic.
Fourteen years in, this event runs like a well-staffed banquet: food trucks on site, organizers who tell you to bring lawn chairs and a picnic (which means they've actually thought it through).
The park is large enough that 1,000+ attendees don't feel crushing — find your blanket spot away from the main stage if you need breathing room.
Arrive by 11:30 AM; street parking on Holden Ave fills by 1 PM.
*Two things to know going in: no pets, no alcohol.

THIS WEEK'S EVENTS
V-APPROVED PICKS
🐕 TPD Night Market
When: Thursday, Mar 5 + Friday, Mar 6, 6–10 PM |
Where: TPD Circle, 431 E. Central Blvd, Thornton Park |
Cost: FREE
Local makers, food trucks, and live music in Thornton Park twice a week. Dog-friendly confirmed. Street parking nearby. This is the kind of low-pressure, browsable evening that doesn't require you to be "on" — you can show up, walk around, grab something to eat, and leave whenever you want.
No one's taking attendance.
Good pick for a weeknight reset.
🐕 Winter Park Farmers' Market
When: Saturday, March 7, 8 AM–1 PM | Where: Central Park West Meadow, corner of New York Ave & Morse Blvd, Winter Park |
Cost: FREE
Peak season at the best produce market in Central Florida. Real Florida growers selling direct — this is not a craft fair with a vegetable section. February and March are the sweet spot: comfortable temperatures, best variety, no summer tourist heat. Fully dog-friendly, and vendors actually cater to dogs.
Parking is always the challenge here — arrive before 8:30 AM or use Park Place Garage on W Canton Ave or the Rollins College garage on E Comstock Ave.
Don't circle the lot hoping something opens up. It won't.
🐕 Maitland Farmers' Market
When: Sunday, March 8, 9 AM–1 PM | Where: Lake Lily Park, 1776 Independence Ln, Maitland |
Cost: FREE
This one deserves more attention than it gets. Smaller and quieter than Lake Eola, with a scenic walk around Lake Lily and live acoustic music starting around 10 AM.
Produce, plants, baked goods, food trucks — and genuinely free parking. Dog-friendly confirmed.
If the Winter Park market feels like too much on a Saturday, this is your Sunday exhale.
Good introvert pick.
🎨 Art After Dark — Lake Nona Town Center
When: Friday, March 6, 6–9 PM | Where: Lake Nona Town Center, under The Beacon |
Cost: FREE
40+ local makers in an open-air market under a six-story art installation. Free garage parking — still one of the most underrated logistics wins of any regular event in this city.
Dogs on leash welcome.
Relaxed, browsable, no pressure. If you want photos of The Beacon, time your arrival closer to 7 PM for the golden hour light.
Good Friday evening option before the weekend crowds hit.
LAST CHANCE
🎡 CENTRAL FLORIDA FAIR CLOSES SUNDAY

Next Issue
📅 Coming March 19 — OMA's free admission night lands during the David LaChapelle retrospective. 167 works, free parking, extended hours to 8 PM. More details next issue.
