THIS WEEK'S SCOUT REPORT

V'S SCOUT REPORT
FROM THE FIELD
Two packed weekends ahead — Florida's first-ever Oxtail Festival, a 37-year-old Lake Eola institution, a county fair at a brand new location, and a free museum window that closes in April. V has been covering ground. Here's what's worth your time.

V's Feature Pick
🌺 37TH ANNUAL SPRING FIESTA IN THE PARK
When: Saturday–Sunday, April 4–5, 10 AM–5 PM
Where: Lake Eola Park, 512 E Washington St, Downtown Orlando
Cost: FREE
37 years in and still the best free weekend Lake Eola offers all year. Over 200 juried artists and crafters line the mile-long walkway around the lake, with a beer garden, food vendors, kids zone, and live entertainment on the amphitheater stage all weekend. Dog-friendly confirmed — bring yours.
Here's the insider detail worth knowing: on Sunday April 5, the regular Lake Eola Farmers' Market runs concurrently from 10 AM–3 PM right alongside the Fiesta. Two events, one destination, same morning. That's as efficient as a Sunday gets.
Honest crowd warning from someone who knows event logistics: OPD estimates 150,000 people over two days. Sunday morning before noon is your best window if crowds drain you. Streets surrounding Lake Eola close for the event — rideshare is the smart call. If you drive, budget extra time and use parking structures on Washington, Orange, or Magnolia.

THIS WEEK'S EVENTS
V-APPROVED PICKS
🌎 1ST ANNUAL OXTAIL FESTIVAL
When: Sat Mar 28, 12–10 PM
Where: Festival Park, 2911 E Robinson St, Orlando
Cost: $15 GA, kids 6 & under FREE
Florida's first-ever Oxtail Festival — 40+ vendors, 20+ oxtail styles, and a Jamaica vs. Dominican Republic vs. USA competition with a $500 prize. Dancehall, Afrobeats, and Soca on the music side, dance competition rounding out the evening.
This is Caribbean community-organized, celebrating Jamaican and broader Caribbean food culture — BY the community, not a tourism department's interpretation of one. Portion of proceeds goes to Jamaica relief efforts.
Inaugural event — first-year means no track record, but also a $15 entry cost to risk. Budget beyond admission for food, which is sold separately.
Rideshare recommended — parking details TBD per organizer.
No pets.
🎨 UPTOWN ART EXPO — FINAL WEEKEND
When: Fri Mar 27–Sun Mar 29 | Where: Cranes Roost Park, Altamonte Springs |
Cost: FREE
Last chance for the 13th Annual Uptown Art Expo — 140+ juried artists, chalk street art with People's Choice voting, and tribute bands closing out the weekend: The Broken Hearts (Tom Petty, Saturday) and Ultimate Santana Tribute (Sunday).
Lakeside park, international food trucks, craft beer and wine.
Free parking in Altamonte Mall lots. Friday evening is your best window for breathing room — Saturday afternoon crowds build fast.
No pets, no coolers.
Bring a blanket for the amphitheater.
🎡 SEMINOLE COUNTY FAIR — NEW LOCATION
When: Mar 27–Apr 5|
Where: 440 Hickman Drive, Sanford|
Cost: FREE admission + FREE parking
7 years running and free to walk the midway — rides are extra (wristbands ~$35 weekday). Classic county fair: 30+ carnival rides, Kiddieland, fair food, games.
Important heads-up: the fair moved to a new location in 2026 — it is no longer at Seminole Towne Center. The new address is 440 Hickman Drive, Sanford — don't show up at the old spot.
Weekdays open at 4 PM, weekends at 2 PM.
Weeknight visits are notably less crowded if you want breathing room.
Morse Museum Free Fridays + TPD/Art After Dark
🎨 FREE FRIDAYS — TWO OPTIONS
When: Fri Mar 27 + Apr 3 |
Where: Winter Park + Thornton Park + Lake Nona
Cost: FREE
Two ways to spend a free Friday. Morse Museum on Park Avenue is free every Friday 4–8 PM through end of April — the world's most comprehensive Tiffany collection, small and quiet, ideal for introverts.
This free season ends in April so don't sleep on it.
Also this Friday: TPD Night Market Thu Mar 26 + Fri Mar 27 at Thornton Park (dogs welcome) and Art After Dark Lake Nona Fri Mar 27 under The Beacon (dogs on leash, free garage parking).
ALSO THIS WEEK
🐕 MARKETS + YOUR MONDAY RESET
Dog-friendly markets running both weekends: Winter Park Farmers' Market Saturdays March 29 and April 4, 8 AM–1 PM — arrive before 8:30 AM, parking fills fast.
Maitland Farmers' Market at Lake Lily Sundays March 29 and April 5, 9 AM–1 PM for a quieter alternative.
Lake Eola Farmers' Market Sunday March 29, 10 AM–3 PM — note that on April 5 it runs concurrently with Spring Fiesta, so that Sunday is one destination covering both.
Monday anchor: Audubon Park Community Market every Monday 5–8 PM at the Stardust Video & Coffee parking lot on E. Winter Park Rd. Dog-friendly, leashed well-behaved pets welcome, pet vendors on site. The kind of low-key neighborhood thing the tourist sites will never tell you about.
